This is a brand-new, gift-quality “Howdy Doody” pencil with a plastic topper in the shape of the puppet’s head. It was manufactured in 1988 by Leadworks (Cleveland, Ohio). Of note, we have a few extra heads if someone wants to reach out for just those or needs to add another into the order. “Howdy Doody” is a children's television program with circus and Western frontier themes that was created and produced by E. Roger Muir and telecast on NBC from 1947 to 1960. It was a pioneer in children's television programming and set the pattern for many similar shows. It was also a pioneer in early color production as NBC (at the time owned by TV maker RCA) used the show in part to sell color television sets in the 1950s.
